Spring break continues
Spring break isn't over yet. With Shan and I knocking out the chores, and pretty much everything is crossed off the list with time remaining to add one more project to the list. Almost all of our bamboo died during the snow storm leaving our patio with no privacy. So Shan and I put our heads together and hit our favorite store...Home Depot. Bought some nice cedar panels, several four by four posts, couple bags of cement, and kicked it into high gear. We always have fun when we do these projects on the farm, usually we over analyze things and beers are flowing. Could be our unorthodox approach to building things, check out the picture of our braces and the angles. Funny, but it worked. After a few laugh attacks and one back injury, the outcome is great. It's level, sturdy and gives us great privacy for the patio. The coo-de-gra was when we finished it and Shan put her original, virgin, hybrid, self proclaimed, Raspberry/strawberry combo plant, in front of it. Whats next Shan?

Spring break lunch
Shan and I got to kidnap all the boys for lunch last Tuesday. We wanted to do something fun with lunch but it was a rainy day, so we had to improvise. So we took the boys for burgers and a family pool tournament. It was Robbie, Luke and Nick against Shan, Parks, and me. Tons of fun, and Nick with his unorthodox approach to the game had us all laughing. Later we hit Lime Berry for a sweet treat to rap up our date.

Spring break twenty fourteen
Since we don't have the boys this Spring break Shan and I made a, "wish list"(chores). Coming off a long winter there are a lot of good old fashioned chores that need to be tended to around the farm. We planted our spring garden - broccoli, peas & carrots as well as some new flowers in our planting pots. Shan found those old windows in the basement last year and look cool in the garden and reflect light into the soil to help germinate the seeds. We repaired our tree swing with a slightly used skateboard he boys had, and used last years tube rope too secure it. We cleaned the barn, mowed the lawn, painted the picnic table and the front door. Lastly and sadly we are not finished yet, still have five days left of spring break. Still on the list is a big dump run and a load of gravel....(weather permitting)

Dog for sale
The gift that just keeps on giving. Even though the garbage can it self has a lock on it, we knew it wasn't enough to keep out our four legged David Copperfield. So Luke made a door to keep Jet out yet let us put garbage in. Impenetrable is what we thought, but obliviously not the case. That naughty dumpster diver has done it again. If only we could harness his desire for garbage and use it for something good. Funny, the boys would never let me sale Jet, and I wouldn't want to wish him on my worst enemy. The close up picture of the trash can shows how he used his powerful teeth and jaws like power tools to reshape the harden plastic lid. Tricky is Jet, I wonder if he can make himself disappear???

Under Construction
Some modification required for sure. So Luke decided to build a tree fort. He didn't draw up plans or write anything down, just winged it. And designing it with the large limbs built into the inside of the fort is really cool. Of coarse Norman and Chewy had to help out. Now they have another place to get out of the rain. Luke used a double pulley system for the door and I can hardly wait to see the ladder. Great job Luke.

Spring is coming
I absolutely love this time of year. The first few sixty degree days have finally come. Woke up the lawn mower, its been parked since last summer. Turned it over and got all the old gas out of it and pulled the blade off and sharpened it. Added a little oil and it was time to give it pull to see if it's gonna lite. Second pull it came to life, and off I went with the first pass of the year. Love the smell of that fresh cut grass, and so did Norman and Chewy. Yep they wolfed the clippings. The other thing I love about this time of year the anticipation of spring and summer. Seeing BBQ's and swim suits in the stores, and looking at the fun images from last season, builds up the fact that soon will be wearing shorts daily and every water sport we can think of. Hanging out with friends, camping, boat club, all of it is just ahead of us. Yea!
