She's a runner

Today the Red Rocket got her first real maiden voyage.
Robbie, Luke, and Nick drove it for the first time. Even Shan and I put a lap on the Red Rocket. All three boys were able to pull start the engine to life. Its one good yank and she's a purrin. I got two thumbs up for the Red Rocket from all the boys and Shan. Anybody up for a go cart sesh?

The Red Rocket

"Some modification required", is the understatement of the year. I don't think Santa knew just how much work it was going to be to put the Red Rocket together. The troubles started on step one when we tried to assemble the steering on it. The welded parts didn't match up with the bolt up parts. And it was up hill from there. So to make a long story short, we had to take it to my friends race car shop twice. Cut the chassis completely in half, realign all the steering parts, manufacture and re-weld parts, and installed a front bumper. After getting the help we needed, we brought it back home and I finished putting it together. Finally it was ready to put oil and gas in the engine and with the first pull it started! It was dark and raining hard but I jumped in it and made a few shake down runs through the cul-de-sac. Soaking wet I had to give it one more test drive because its so much fun. The Red Rocket is ready for action. Thanks Santa!

Sunday

Sunday was a busy day here at the Jensen-Bese camp. Robbie and Luke primed and painted the red rocket. The red paint job came out perfect.

Nick and Parks built legos they bought with their Christmas money. Nick's lego is huge and has a lot of detail. While the boys were busy with their projects, Shan was working on homework, and I had one eye on the playoff football games and overseeing all the progress.

Finally...

Its been too long since we've have our baby's home. Auhhhh... it feels good to have them back. After dinner and homework Luke was busy working on the Go Cart Santa brought. Polishing the frame and prepping it for prime and paint. I have spread out all the parts and the big power plant. Nick was working on his new Lego, and Parks and Shan were playing Rummy Cube. All is good again, finally!
