Say goodbye to Feburary

Not only say goodbye to February, but say goodbye to winter. Today was the last day of February, and it is spring here. Warm and nice with plants waking up from winter, and blossoming into spring. Yes, technically it is still winter by the calender, but it is so nice here. Last week was nice days with temps in the sixties! So today started out with letting Pebbles and Bambam out (our Bunny's), in the back yard and we let them hop around while we replaced the trampoline safety net. They are so funny to watch in the back yard; they are fast, friendly, and playful. Next we planted spring bulbs and seeds. Green onions, lettuce, carrots, garlic, Walla Walla sweets, red peppers, sweet peas, sunflowers, and more. Nick and Parker were helping with the planting and Robbie and Luke were skateboarding and playing football with the neighbors. Spring has sprung here and it feels great. Nick and Shan built a fire, and we had fun burning wood from next door and making so-mores. Baths for all the boys and and a night time story, and it was ninety night for all of our baby boys.

Go Arroyo Homes

Chris, Shan's project manager, has been working hard, with Francisco, and James, getting the stem and pony walls done. Yesterday they worked all day in the rain, it was one of those, all day long soaker rains. Well they forged on, and today they installed the posts and beams. I look out the window and watch them when I'm not buried in the office. It just seems to me they are getting it done by leaps and bounds. Chris's vision is so clear, and is fun to watch. Underfloor frame done, call in the other trades! Shan and Chris are a great team, cant wait to see the master piece. Go Arroyo Homes!

Allstars win big

So the Allstars stay undefeated by winning two more games back to back. Robbie lead the team alot by bringing the ball down the court and setting up some of the plays. Robbie also was hitting his jump shots, and really put alot of pressure on the other team with his fierce defense. Go Allstars!!!

Go Arroyo Homes

So Shan's up to it again... she is building another house. It will be her twenty-ten tour of homes house. Beatifying the planet one more time. Stamping the face of planet again with the "Arroyo Homes", branding iron. I'm so excited to see her build again, and all of her house's are so cool. This will be great to watch from right next door. The dig out is done, and gravel was poured over the top. They got their first lumber package yesterday. Footings and form boards are next. Go Arroyo homes!

Beach date

A big "thanks", goes out to my Mom for giving us a ocean front room at the Hallmark, in Newport Oregon, for my birthday present. It was just Shan and I, no baby's this time, so we took full advantage of our date. The room was fantastic, with a mini kitchen, gas fire place, two TV's and huge bed with hot tub next to it. It took us no time to ice up some beers, and start using the amenities. The view, weather, and walking on the beach was awesome. Shan and I got some great one on one time together, and a nice romantic Beach trip. Thanks Mom!

My Birthday

Thanks everybody for the dinners, gifts, cards, and calls. I didn't think turning fifty would be so much fun. So several weeks ago I came home from picking Robbie up from school and noticed two of my old wake boards were missing. Chris and I had hung his and my old boards up in the garage by the boat. Shan admitted taking them but why?, I asked. Her lips were sealed, and couldn't get any info from Chris either. I even tried my truth serum, "beer", didn't work on them either. I racked my brain trying to figure out what possible reason for the thievery. I knew it was a birthday thing but what??? The only thing I could think of was maybe they were getting them autographed by some big pros. Boy was I wrong... Last weekend we had Dana and Sue over for dinner. After dinner the boys made me close my eyes and escorted me out to the front porch spun me around and sat me down on my NEW BENCH made out of my stolen wake boards. Wow, its so cool. Dana made it, and did a great job. I love it. Jan got in on it too giving me labels for the back, it is really comfortable, and Shan.... you sneakster. Thanks everybody for everything!!!

Polar Plunge

Yep, the Jensen/Bese camp is certifiably insane, borderline humanly challenged, deranged.... because last Saturday we hit the river one more time... not for wake boarding, way too cold, but the "Polar Plunge", a fund raiser for Special Olympics. We are so proud of our baby's, each of them raising over a hundred dollars, collectively almost six hundred dollars! When we checked in Friday, the workers were so impressed with the boys, and we picked up our T-shirts and Fred Meyer towels. Saturday came and I was surprised so many people were there. Couple radio stations, booths for sponsors, huge changing tents, free-standing propane warmers, and lots of fire rescue. (They probably heard I was plunging). First was the costume contest, it was great. Picture this, the announcer going group by group calling out team names, describing craziness, and what they stood for. We saw some great ones too; everything from Vikings with toilet plungers, to Smurfs, to people in full hazmat suits, and everything in between. People actually crazier then us, if you can believe that. After the costume contest, it was time to line up for the plunge. They said the river temp was 38 degrees. We got a little nervous, and I have a low threshold of pain. I never thought there would be that many people watching, and TV cameras. We were the second to last group to go, so we saw plunger after plunger ecstasy and agony, as they entered and exited the river. We were the only family plunging together, and Parker was the youngest for sure. We boasted among ourselves who would go out the farthest in the river, and I talked big, but really I was already cold and it was raining a little bit. So we hit the beach and clicked off one picture and lined up. The announcer called out... five, four, three, two, one, Plunge!!! We all ran into the river screaming and yelling, and....OH MY GOD!!! I felt a bazillion needles stabbing me, had an out of body experience seeing Elvis and visions of the Titanic going down. We were laughing and crying at the same time. I herd a small roar from the crowd since we were the only family plunging together. Wow it was so cold. Then back out. We did it!!! It was really fun, for a great cause, and the boys felt good about doing a good thing for special people. Thanks for everyone who donated. And to my Alaska family and friends... your next, take the plunge!
